Features
The Tennis Serve Speed Tracker app enables you to see:
Serve Accuracy:
See on a court map where your serve has landed and whether it was out, in, or inside the critical target zone close to the service line.
Serve Angle:
See the angle of your serve - how far can you drive your opponent out of the court?
Serve Speed (Premium Feature):
See the average and maximum ball velocity in km/h or mph. The maximum velocity is the value measured and displayed in big Tennis tournaments. The app even takes into account the effects of air resistance, gravity, and the speed of sound to compute the speed of the ball. For this, the app's algorithms use a physics-based simulation model and were calibrated against a real radar gun.
Serve Statistics (Premium Feature):
See basic statistics about the last couple of serves you have completed, such as the maximum or average serve speed achieved, or the percentage of serves that were in. Also, you can inspect the spatial distribution of the serves on a court map.
The Tennis Serve Speed Tracker app offers two modes of operation:
Manual Mode:
In the Manual Mode you can manually track and analyze one serve at a time.
This mode is optimized for two persons: one serves, the other one operates the app and inspects the results to provide feedback to the server.
Automatic Mode (Premium Feature):
In the Automatic Mode you can fully automatically track multiple serves in a row and receive feedback after each serve from an AI voice. Once all serves are completed, you can inspect them and see basic statistics.
This mode is perfect for practicing serves on your own and optimized for single users.
Tip: Use bluetooth headphones to practice serves without anyone but you hearing the results!
Requirements
The Tennis Serve Speed Tracker can only compute good results when a couple of requirements are met:
Equipment
Android Phone or Tablet
Use a reasonably new and powerful Android phone or tablet. The better the processor, the more RAM, and the better the camera, the better your experience will be!
Tripod
Ensure that your device is completely static (i.e., not moving) when calibrating and recording serves. Use a tripod and don't hold the device in your hand.
Environment
Quiet
It is very important that the environment is quiet during the recording of the serves, as the app also uses audio data of the serve to compute the speed. Ensure the environment is quiet, i.e., that there is no wind (on outdoor courts), no echo (on indoor courts), not people speaking during the serve, no noise from other courts, pets, or excessive Tennis grunting :). The microphone needs to hear the serve and the ball bouncing off the court!
Illumination
Ensure the court is brightly illuminated - so that the camera can see the fast ball.

Free vs. Premium
As outlined above, the Tennis Serve Speed Tracker can only compute good results when a couple of requirements are met. To not spend money without being sure that the app works on your courts, you can download and try the app for free.
If you are happy with the app's tracking performance in your environment, consider upgrading to the Premium Version via a one-time in-app purchase to unlock all the Premium features. Once unlocked, the Premium Version will be yours - forever - there is no subscription model and no hidden costs :)
